Simple Keys to Impact and Evidence Comparison

Simple keys to evidence comparison and impact comparison:

I think I would ALWAYS discuss:

1) Magnitude [disad outweighs the case]

2) Timeframe

3) Disad Turns the Case (if your argument has economy, relations, hegemony, or war implications you should always be able to rhetorically turn the case)

Its pretty easy to write this out in advance to most disads. And I would often discuss Probability/Risk analysis.

Arguments commonly used for evidence comparison:

-our warrant on x point are just better
-history is our our side (or evidence/argument takes history into account)
-science proves our argument/our argument is grounded in science
-our evidence quotes experts
-prefer our uniqueness over theirs
-prefer our links over their link turns
-various criticisms of prediction
-ethical criticisms of their argument

and can be equally important to making comparisons.

The lecture from the Georgetown Debate Seminar on Impact comparison is quite good.
